International Day of Yoga
ITANAGAR, June 19: The Director of Health Service in coordination with Department of Ayush will be observing International Yoga Day on June 21 by organizing seminar on yoga for health, harmony and peace at State Banquet Hall.
The programme aims at disseminating information about yoga and how it can be a tool for anyone to combat and maintain lifestyle disorders like diabetes, hypertension, neurological disorders, stress etc.
Mass yoga demonstrations will also be organized at CM's Bungalow, Governor's House, DNG College, VKV Chimpu and various other locations in and around Capital Complex on June 21 from 7 am to 7.35 a.m. Yoga experts will demonstrate yoga 'Asanas' (postures) besides screening films on yoga at Banquet Hall.
The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Jyoti Prasad Rajkhowa, will attend the grand International Day of Yoga celebration to be held at the Indira Gandhi Park on 21st June. The event, being hosted by International Day of Yoga Celebrations Committee, Itanagar (IDYCCI), will start from 7 AM onwards.

ANYA appeals for flood damage restoration works, compensation
ITANAGAR, June 19: The All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) today appealed to the state Govt to take immediate steps for renovation of road and bridges and other infrastructures which have been damaged by recent heavy down pour and to provide compensation to the flood affected people of Seijosa area.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Capital City Mige Kamki informed that due to heavy rain last night, there was a landslide at six miles which blocked the road. Vehicular traffic was halted temporarily in morning. The road was restored immediately.
Orgs accuse news channel of spreading communal disharmony

APYC demands resignation of Swaraj
ITANAGAR, June 19: The Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC) today demanded resignation of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for allegedly facilitating Lalit Modi in procuring a Visa. APYC said that Modi is a declared fugitive after he was charged for embezzlement of thousands of crores from the IPL during 2010.
Condemning the alleged act of Swaraj, APYC also demanded explanation from Prime Minister Narendra on this issue and said that the MP must drop Swaraj from the ministry. The APYC further said that Modi should be tried in Indian court.

29 arrested by City police, Congress accuses bandh callers as ‘terror group’

ITANAGAR, June 19: 29 members of BJP's Jan Andolan Committee (JAC) were arrested

Capital Police also registered three separate cases against the members of JAC for defacement of public property (vide Itanagar PS FIR No.150/15, Naharlagun PS FIR No.104/15 and Nirjuli PS FIR No. 7/15) under section 3(1)(2) of Arunachal Pradesh Prevention of Defacement of Public Property Act, the SP said.
Elaborate security arrangements were made during the bandh period with special emphasis on market areas and Govt. offices to avert any bandh related violence or untoward incident.
Barring few shops, most of business establishments, institutions remained closed during bandh period. All sort of public and private vehicles remained off the road while few state transport buses were operated through police escort.
However, Government offices functioned normally, the SP claimed.
Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has vehemently condemned JAC (BJP) for today's capital bandh.
Congress termed the callers of today's bandh "not less than a group of terrorists".

Micro hydel station restored after 7 years

Digital Life Certificate to be accepted for disbursement of pensions
NAHARLAGUN, June 19: No personal appearance will be required from now onwards for obtaining life certificate by pensioners as the State Government has decided to accept the digital life certificate generated through online registration from Jeevan Pramaan Portal using biometric authentication (aadhaar card details).
For getting digital life certificate, the pensioners need to have an Aadhaar number and have to enroll and biometrically authenticate themselves by downloading application prepared for generating digital life certificate from jeevanpramaan.gov.in or nearby CSC centre, bank branches or government offices.
However, the present system of personal appearance or physical life certificate for obtaining life certificate will also be in use.
For obtaining a life certificate, a pensioner earlier needed to present himself/herself before the Pension Disbursing Agency or had the life certificate issued by authority where they served and had it delivered to the disbursing agency.
The verification by biometrics through Jeevan Pramaan will be valid up to the month of October every year. Every pensioner will have to renew digital life certificate in November every year to continue payment of pension. DIPR
State Soil Health Mission launched, urban local bodies to collect taxes
ITANAGAR, June 19: In a bid to transcend Arunachal Pradesh into cent percent organic State, Cabinet in its Tuesday meeting decided to launch "State Soil Health Mission". The programme intends for proper documentation of soil health and preparation of soil map besides, distribution of Soil Health Cards to the farmers so that they are guided for scientific nutrient managements.
The programme shall also check overuse or no use of fertilizers and its adverse effect and help in increase of crop production through its sustainable soil management paving way for organic farming.
Arunachal Pradesh Government which excelled in the national level by becoming top five states in the country for devolution of power to Panchayati Raj has now initiated steps to strengthen the Urban Local Self Governance by transferring powers to enhance revenue base of Urban Local Bodies. State Cabinet decided to authorise urban local bodies to collect taxes, user charges, levy fees and fines as per provisions contained under various sections of the Arunachal Pradesh Municipal Act 2007. Two Municipal Councils of Itanagar and Pasighat shall now enjoy the powers to levy tax on parking of vehicles as per provision under section, use charges on Solid Waste Management, parking, stacking of materials on public street, tax on advertisement, other taxes on entertainment, tax on tourist congregations, tax on heavy truck and buses, levy of stallage rent and fee, permission to grant licences to use premises for non residential purposes and to collect licence fee.
The state with 82% forest cover is considered as one of the richest resource based state in terms of Aromatic and Medicinal Plants. Taking into consideration of such vast potential, Cabinet adopted Arunachal Pradesh Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Policy 2015. Through this policy, the state government shall extensively exploit the rich aromatic and medicinal plants potential for economic sustainability.

AALO, June 19: The animal husbandry and veterinary department has organized a programme for Implantation of Permanent Electronic Identification in Mithuns at Pakam one village today. The programme was funded by West Siang district administration.
Attending the inaugural function, Deputy Commissioner Pige Ligu said that the Micro chipping can solve Mithun identification problem and disputes regarding ownership. He asked the department to prepare database survey and guide the Mithun owners in rearing healthy livestock.

Demand for improved veterinary services

PASIGHAT, June 19: Observing the 'poor' infrastructure and lack of medicine and other facilities in Koyu Veterinary Dispensary, the local people have demanded Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department to boost its infrastructure and supply adequate medicine and other necessary equipments for its smooth function. They also demanded the state government to implement animal farming schemes in the area.

BJP defends Raje and rules out resignation
New Delhi, June 19: Shedding its reticence, the BJP on Friday backed Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and ruled out her resignation or that of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on the Lalit Modi row even as Congress threatened to disrupt the Monsoon session ofParliament if they do not quit.
The BJP's defence came on a day Raje, who is facing a storm over her secret witness statement supporting the former IPL boss' immigration plea in Britain, cancelled her visit to Anandpur Sahib in Punjab where she would have met party president Amit Shah and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
The BJP had put up a muted defence of Swaraj when the controversy broke out on Sunday over her help to tainted Modi get British travel document saying she had acted on humanitarian considerations but offered no defence of Raje in the last two days. Taking its attack to a new level, the Congress alleged a nexus between Lalit Modi, the Prime Minister, BJP President, Swaraj and Raje and said the only way for the government to "save" itself and the Parliament session is to make the two women leaders resign from their positions.
"We hope after Yoga Day and after 'Lalitasan', the Prime Minister will take some strong action," party leader Jairam Ramesh told reporters adding "there is no other way".
Today, the BJP fielded its spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi at a press briefing in the party headquarters where he rejected the demands for resignation of the two top leaders.
The party strategy may have been apparently devised after separate meetings between Home Minister Rajnath Singh with the Prime Minister and between Amit Shah and the Prime Minister late last night.
To questions whether there will be action against Swaraj or Raje, he said, "The question is imaginary There is no technical and legal base that you can say there is any point of impropriety."
Trivedi said while the party's top leadership has made its position clear on the issue of Swaraj, the validity of the documents produced against Raje is not yet verified.
He also rejected charges of corruption and impropriety on the part of the two leaders for links with Modi and termed as "laughable" the questions raised by the opposition without any basis.
"We have already made it clear that there is no corruption. There is no technical or legal definition of corruption or misappropriation is not evident. Opposition is using these issues to make a mountain out of a molehill for their own political gains on feeble grounds," he said.
Asked why the party took so much time to come out in support of Raje, he said, the questions raised by the media were imaginary.
"Before making any demand, it should be seen whether that demand is substantive. Whether any wrong doing or corruption has taken place. To make such a demand in the absence of substantive evidence is not right and baseless," he said.
He said Raje has clarified to the party top brass and the talks between the party and her are continuing. He, however, rejected any demand of any inquiry, internal or otherwise against Raje.
The party even went the extra distance to defend Raje's son Dushyant Singh, MP, saying as far as his company's dealings with Modi, they were above board. The Rajasthan BJP also put up a strong defence of Dushyant Singh.
Trivedi said it was not a new issue and facts have been mentioned in Dushyant Singh's Income Tax returns as well his affidavit before the Lok Sabha polls.
Modi, who is wanted by the Enforcement Directorate in several cases including charges of money laundering, has been staying in London and has not come to India to face questioning in the cases. PTI

Screen degree certificates properly
Recently Law Minister of Delhi Jitendra Singh Tomar was arrested in connection with the row over the authenticity of his academic degree. Later under immense political pressure Tomar submitted his resignation to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal hours after a Delhi court remanded him to police custody. Delhi police arrested him and is carrying out investigation into the case.
As per the report, Delhi Police, which took former law minister to Faizabad and Ayodhya as part of its investigation, have found that his B.Sc degree is fake.
Police sources told media that Tomar had no knowledge about anything related to his educational qualification when questioned at the Faizabaad Awadh University and Ayodhaya Saket College.
The arrest of Tomar in fake degree case is a matter of concern for us too. State government should carry out tough screening of degree certificates during recruitment process.
Also Arunachalee students going outside the state to pursue higher studies should properly check credential of college and universities before taking admission. They should not become victim of fraudsters.

Finding the root cause of corruption in the State today
Dear Editor,
People’s Party of Arunachal urges all the Political parties in the State along with various other Civil Societies and intellectual foras to make an indebt analysis of the root cause of corruption in the State today.
This virus of corruption cannot be easily done away with by resorting to bandh calls and serving ultimatum to the Government. People’s Party of Arunachal has always been reiterating that any organization whether political or non political parties that have been vocal on various corruption charge against the Tuki led Government should first exhibits political will to fight against issues like frequent defection of democratically elected leaders from one party to another that gives no opportunity for the healthy growth of opposition party in the State. People’s Party of Arunachal seeks the support of the BJP Unit of Arunachal to put pressure on the Speaker Arunachal State Assembly to disqualify the defected leader of PPA. Here lies one of the main reasons for the growth of political corruption in the State. If the Tuki led Government is corrupt and is charged with abuse of centrally sponsored schemes, it is because of the huge amounts paid to these defecting legislators.
Unless a concerted effort is put in by all the political parties and various other Civil societies together towards the desired goal of attaining a corrupt free Government by adopting a common agenda agreeable to all the parties, bandh calls and demonstration cannot be the solution in the State.
The People’s Party of Arunachal appeal to one and all in the State, seriously to work out a common objective programme on certain serious issues in the State which need to be debated and resolved. Issues like (1) building of mega dams in the state for resource generation. (2) Land acquisition and compensation related laws in the State and qualitative promotion of Private Universities in the State. It is unfortunate that none of the organizations have raised any of these issues in public forums.

People join various groups & sometimes dumb messages from various groups keep flooding the so called smart phones every second, distracting people & thus interrupting their work. One wonders how the nation can develop if people are all the time busy with Apps.

Ambiguous in its intents
Dear Editor,
Bandh calls in any or all parts of the Indian union have been declared as illegal by the Honble Courts as it infringes upon the fundamental rights & individual liberties of citizens besides causing unforeseen damages to public properties & losses to state exchequer. We as the law abiding citizens need to respect the rulings of the Honble Courts which are upheld by the apex court of the country.
Capital Bandh enforced by state unit BJP whose party is in power at the centre do not speak well of their own party’s image, its wider perceptions of issues & the modus operandi to genuine protests against the state government. It’s in defying to the standing judgments of the Hon,ble courts by any such national political party & have many veiled and ambiguous intents. The people of the state who are waging a super imposed major war against wrath of nature and it’s furry for a month are rendered to more miseries, the students who are appearing law & PG courses exams under distance education are made to suffer beyond repairs, daily breads earners made poorer & above all it has encouragingly opened up a floodgate of bandhs from nefarious unions & association who always expects something by enforcing such bandh calls fabricating issues out of no issue. Someone has rightly pointed out that it will be the same party who if come to power will be opposing bandh calls against the government even on every nonsense issues in coming years. No doubt, party men may change their color & affiliations from time to time but not the party who would be begging for votes from these marginalised groups in elections.
I as a citizen & dweller of the capital feel that current situations in the state don’t warrant for enforcement of bandhs, that too from the BJP, a party known for its uprightness & strong national feelings. We perceive something ambiguous in its intents.

It is being said that JTs under RMSA in other states of India get a salary of around
